If approved, the estimated tax impact for the project, assuming a 20-year bond at 3.65% interest, would be $68 per $100,000 of assessed property value.
EXETER – Public safety experts are recommending that Exeter plan to separate police and fire and eventually construct a new police station up to modern standards.
Passed as a warrant article in 2019, an analysis of all town emergency operations was conducted by the Center for Public Safety Management (CPSM), which has conducted 320 similar analyses in communities of all sizes across 42 states and Canadian provinces.
The final report was prepared last year and CPSM was on hand virtually to walk Select Board members through their findings Monday and were joined by the chiefs of both police and fire.
Generally, the report underscored the importance of having the Fire Department and EMS at or near its current location due to the majority of its call volume occurring within the radius of its effective travel time of four minutes or less to an emergency.
Exeter firefighter honored for serving nation as he serves community
EXETER – Massachusetts Air National Guard Master Sgt. Ryan Hart is described by his commanding officers as a natural leader.
To those who work alongside him for his day job as an Exeter firefighter and EMT, as well as those who served with him in the National Guard, it came as no surprise when his guard commanders visited the Fire Department Friday to recognize Hart for his military service.
Hart received the first-ever Commander’s Coin issued by his unit, the 104th Fighter Wing. Lt. Col. Jeremy Dugan said the coins are given by commanding officers to service members under their command for their exemplary service.
