KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) Monday, The Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety (KDPS) announced the promotion of Assistant Chief Dave Boysen to Deputy Chief.
The promotion is effective March 8.
âI am pleased to promote Assistant Chief Dave Boysen to the rank of Deputy Chief. Chief Boysen has been a dedicated member of the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety for 25 years and has the respect of the entire department,â KDPS Chief Vernon Coakley said in a statement. âHis proven history of being a strong leader and commitment to community-minded policing will be critical as he steps into this vital to help KDPS ensure Kalamazoo remains and safe and welcoming place for families, residents, businesses and visitors.â

KALAMAZOO, MI A 25-year-veteran of the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, Dave Boysen is now second in command.
Boysen, one of four assistant chiefs at the department, was promoted Monday, March 8 to the role of deputy chief, the department announced. Boysen had been serving as assistant chief of investigations and collaborative policing at the department since January 2018.
Prior to that Boysen had served in the role of captain in the community outreach and problem solving division for just shy of six years. He becomes the first deputy chief at the department since 2018.
