Longtime Kalamazoo Public Safety veteran promoted to deputy chief

KALAMAZOO, MI — A 25-year-veteran of the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, Dave Boysen is now second in command.
Boysen, one of four assistant chiefs at the department, was promoted Monday, March 8 to the role of deputy chief, the department announced. Boysen had been serving as assistant chief of investigations and collaborative policing at the department since January 2018.
Prior to that Boysen had served in the role of captain in the community outreach and problem solving division for just shy of six years. He becomes the first deputy chief at the department since 2018.
