Fire reported in South Lake Tahoe

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Crews from South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue and surrounding agencies are responding to the area of the Upper Truckee Marsh, the scene of fire currently about one-half acre in size. The call was received at 2:06 p.m. Firefighters are determining the best way into the marsh with water as it is halfway between any streets. Lake Valley Fire, Cal Fire, and US Forest Service are all at the scene along with South Lake Tahoe Fire.

South Tahoe Fire adds 4 members to crew

  SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. Four of South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue’s recently hired firefighters finished their one month in house academy on Feb. 26, and were welcomed to the agency after receiving the firefighter oath from Chief Clive Savacool. Provided “We are very proud to have these four fine firefighters as additions to our family,” said Savacool. “We take extreme pride in our profession, high standards and motivated workforce, and we know our new firefighters will serve the city of South Lake Tahoe with compassion, professionalism, and honor.”

South Lake Tahoe home damaged in early morning fire

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - An early morning fire damaged the second floor of a South Lake Tahoe home on Springwood Avenue Monday. South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue received the emergency call just before 5:00 a.m. December 14. Upon arrival they found a home with heavy smoke coming from the second floor. The homeowners were able to get out safely after trying to extinguish the flames. Firefighters were able to respond quickly from all three South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue (SLTFR) fire houses along with Lake Valley Fire in a matter of minutes, despite the snowy road conditions. With a quick interior attack on the fire, firefighters were able to contain the fire to the second floor. Assistance was also provided by the Tahoe-Douglas Fire Protection District as well as from the Cal Tahoe EMS Authority.
