Ahead of the next year’s governorship election in Ekiti State, the reported endorsement of the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Chief Bisi Kolawole, by former Governor Ayo Fayose as the preferred aspirant is already generating ripples in the party.
Kolawole, from Efon Alaaye in the Central Senatorial District, was a former House of Assembly member from 2007 to 2011 and commissioner for environment under the administration of Fayose between 2015 and 2018.
Tribune Online gathered from a reliable source, on Monday, that the former governor announced the endorsement of Kolawole during a meeting of his political group Osoko People’s Assembly (OPA) in his country home in Afao-Ekiti at the weekend.

The political camp of former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Prof. Olusola Eleka, has rejected the endorsement of Chief Bisi Kolawole as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate by former governor, Ayodele Fayose.
According to the Eleka’s camp, the former governor took a unilateral decision and didn’t carry all leaders and stakeholders along in arriving at the choice.
A political aide to Eleka, Mr. Adebisi Adeola, said the former deputy governor would proceed with his ambition despite Kolawole’s adoption by his former boss, saying “Eleka won’t drop out of the race and would be ready to face Kolawole at the PDP governorship primary next year.”

The exercise was initially scheduled to end on February 23.
APC Director of Organisation, Prof. Al-Mustapha Ussiju Medaner, made this known in a statement on Sunday.
He said the registration will now end on 31 March, due to demands across the states for an extension in order to accommodate all prospective members,
Part of the statement read: “We have gotten a nationwide acknowledgement of the increasing popularity of the All Progressive Congress, APC and most especially in states and regions that are being governed by the opposition party.
“We will shift the end of the registration exercise to Wednesday 31st March, 2021.

There is tension in the Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) following the endorsement of the state Chairman, Chief Bisi Kolawole, as the governorship candidate by former Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose ahead of the 2022 governorship poll.
DAILY POST gathered on Sunday that Fayose communicated Kolawole’s endorsement to members of his political platform, Osoko People’s Assembly (OPA) at a meeting held at his Afao Ekiti country home and the development is causing ripples in the party.
The anointing of Kolawole was an indication that Fayose has abandoned former Governor Segun Oni, who recently made an open declaration; 2018 governorship candidate, Prof Olusola Eleka and 2018 deputy governorship candidate, Mr. Deji Ogunsakin, who was believed to be the favourite for the ticket before the latest development.

The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party in the South-West has taken a turn for the worse as leaders of a former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, have directed their members to steer clear of a peace meeting convened by ex-Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola of Osun State.
Fayose’s supporters are also said to have started mobilising support for a former National Vice Chairman (South-West) of the party, Dr Eddy Olafeso, to return.
This is contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting of the group, held in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Tuesday. It was gathered that the meeting was presided over by former Governor Fayose.
