Chicopee to open 2 COVID vaccine sites after months of waiting

CHICOPEE After doing the hard work to set up a COVID-19 vaccination clinic, then developing a second when the state switched gears, the city has received word that people will finally be able to get shots in the city after weeks of frustration and waiting.
The Holyoke Health Center is now joining forces with the city and the two are expected to begin offering about 900 vaccinations a week at the RiverMills Senior Center on West Main Street starting on Monday, Mayor John L. Vieau said.
At the same time, the city’s COVID-19 task force has received preliminary word from the state that it will receive doses next week for a regional site at the Castle of Knights on Memorial Avenue. The site is a collaborative effort with South Hadley, Granby and Holyoke. People should be able to start making appointments on the state’s website for the first vaccinations that could be administere
