The Chickasaw Ambulance Council last week voted to keep two ambulances that serve the county at the New Hampton Police Department garage as long as the city of New Hampton will provide liability insurance to the rigs.
After rescinding a resolution passed in March that would pay Jeremy McGrath $15,000 a year to house Chickasaw Ambulance Services ambulances in a building McGrath and his wife own in New Hampton, the Ambulance Council voted 4-1 to accept an offer from New Hampton to rent a part of the Police Department’s for the same $15,000 price.

Contentious discussion ends with New Hampton tabling ambulance ‘seed money’
By:

The New Hampton City Council once again tabled paying its share of “seed money” to the Chickasaw County Ambulance Council.
The unanimous vote came after a lengthy and, at times, contentious discussion during a meeting last Monday evening that was marked by several heated exchanges and city officials expressing frustration with county officials, especially Supervisor Jake Hackman.
But Monday’s vote to table paying the Ambulance Council $7,295.70 New Hampton’s share of the $25,000 seed money the new council was supposed to use to generate requests for proposals (RFPs) by hiring an attorney or consultant raises a number of questions.

New Hampton, IA – A tense and at times heated city council meeting on Monday April 5th ended with the New Hampton City Council deciding to table paying its portion of the “seed money” to the Chickasaw Ambulance Council.
The cities’ portion of the seed money, $7,295.70 was part of the $25,000 the newly formed ambulance council is to use to generate “requests for proposals” known as RFP’s for the purpose of hiring an attorney or consultant.
Questions were raised about this, mainly what does this money do to an agreement that was earlier reached by the cities in Chickasaw County and Chickasaw County to settle a lawsuit that had been filed by the county against the cities to pay for a two year ambulance contract that had been signed by the former ambulance council in June of 2019.
