Maine Nordiques select three in NAHL Supplemental Draft

The NAHL’s entry draft will be held July 14. ANOTHER TENDER Before the draft, the Nordiques announced the tender signing of forward Brendan Gibbons. The 19-year-old from South Kingston, Rhode Island, played in the NCDC with the Jr. Bruins and P.A.L. Islanders. In 33 regular season games, he tallied six goals and 13 assists. The Nordiques also officially announced that Maine Nordiques Academy 18U defenseman Kadsen Johnson has signed a tender with the NAHL team. He had 12 goals and 38 assists in 55 games with the 18U team. He also appeared in seven games with the NAHL Nordiques, recording two assists. Johnson was a supplemental draft pick by the Nordiques last year.

As Team USA prepared to compete in the International Ice Hockey Federation Women s World Championship from May 6-16 in Halifax and Truro, Nova Scotia, on April 21 the provincial government canceled the tournament over COVID-19 safety concerns. The tournament also was canceled in 2020. National Women s Team director Katie Million delivered the dour news to Compher and her teammates including local training partners Megan Bozek from Arlington Heights, Kendall Coyne Schofield from Palos Heights, and Savannah Harmon from Downers Grove as they finished their last skate of team camp in Portland, Maine. The team was then scheduled to depart for the tournament, preceded by an eight-day quarantine.
