Reporter chuck, ramsey in his eighth year as Police Commissioner announced he will be stepping down in early january. He tells us this decision was entirely personal, not political, related to the upcoming election for the mayor this coming november. He was flanked by the mayor and a number of other city officials who credited him with the historic drop in the citys crime rate over the past eight years. Now, ramsey has worked in Law Enforcement for 47 years with stops in chicago and washington. During his tenure here in philadelphia. Officials say the homicide rate dropped by more than 30 .
