Chhath Puja is a Hindu festival which is celebrated mostly in eastern states of Bihar, Jharkhand and eastern Uttar Pradesh. The festival is celebrated to pray to Lord Sun. It is primarily celebrated in Bihar and Jharkhand. Devotees, on the river banks of river, ponds, lake, take dip and offer argha to setting sun and rising sun. The festival is observed on the sixth day of Kartik month.
Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena has given his nod to hold Chhath Puja at designated ghats on the Yamuna and directed the officials to ensure basic amenities along with adequate security.
Chhath Puja 2022: Indian Railways receive a huge number of footfalls before and after Chhath festival and people go to their hometowns to celebrate the puja with their family and Railways arranges special trains to reduce the rush.
Chhath Puja celebrations will be allowed at designated sites in the city except for the banks of the Yamuna river, the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) said.
