CM launches EV battery swapping network

Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa on Tuesday launched the electric vehicles battery swapping network in Bengaluru.
He said consumers were ready to adopt electric vehicles and now there was a need to ensure that the supporting infrastructure was in place. As the government was encouraging usage of electric vehicles, battery swapping units would reduce charging time, increase mileage and help to drive for longer hours, the Chief Minister said.
Sun Mobility Vice-Presidents Uday Khemka and Chetan Maini recalled the support extended by the State government for manufacture of the first electric vehicle in the country.
SUN Mobility to scale its battery swapping stations for faster EV adoption in Bengaluru
SUN Mobility will work with BESCOM and BMRC to enable a robust network of battery swapping infrastructure in the city, and has partnered with MetroRide for clean last-mile connectivity.

100 battery swapping stations, called Swap Points, in Bengaluru by the end of 2021.

Chetan Maini, Co-founder of Sun Mobility, said that this will be their first foray into their home-turf Bengaluru after expanding in nine cities nationally. These battery swap stations will available for all forms of shared mobility including e-rickshaws, bikes, and will be available for food and courier delivery riders too, says Chetan Maini.
