It was a week of state-ranked softball for the Blair Oaks Lady Falcons. After winning against Class 3 No. 10 Southern Boone and falling to Class 3 No. 3 Chillicothe earlier last week, the Class 3 No. 5 Lady Falcons finished their regular season Saturday with a 9-1 victory against the Class 2 No. 9 Iberia Lady Rangers at the Falcon Athletic Complex.
The calendar may have said it was Sept. 29, but Thursday night’s game at the Falcon Athletic Complex resembled late October softball. One swing of the bat determined the game’s fate in the pitchers’ duel. Baley Rackers slapped an RBI double to center field in the bottom of the third inning, then scored on an overthrow as the Blair Oaks Lady Falcons won 2-0 against the Fatima Lady Comets.
There was a power surge in the bottom of the sixth inning Wednesday night at the Falcon Athletic Complex. Emma Wolken, Kally Bruce and Taylor Groner all homered in the inning, powering the Blair Oaks Lady Falcons to a 10-0 victory in six innings against the Jefferson City Lady Jays.
Just before the bottom of the seventh inning began, the timer went off to signal the time limit had been reached for the fifth-place game of the Lady Jays Classic. But the game wasn’t over until Morgan Luebbering said so. Luebbering came off the bench and smacked a two-out single up the middle, scoring Kenzie Libbert from second base to give the Blair Oaks Lady Falcons a 3-2 walk-off victory Saturday afternoon against the Father Tolton Lady Trailblazers at Binder Park.
It was ace against ace. But some days, the hitters have their say. Kendyll Rackers hit a one-out RBI double in the bottom of the sixth inning Tuesday to send the Helias Lady Crusaders to a 6-5 victory against the Blair Oaks Lady Falcons at the American Legion Post 5 Sports Complex.
