Conway leaders decided Monday to demolish the remaining building left at the Whittemore Elementary site following a recommendation from a task force that is helping the city determine the future of the site.
Whittemore Task Force members heard from Conway city staff about the site’s history, which dates back 70 years. The school was a South Carolina equalization school to educate Black students in Horry County.
