HUBBALLI: A cloth merchant who stared death in the face on the operation table, when he underwent a surgery for brain tumour, is now helping those without means to ward off the threat of Covid-19.
After the state government enforced a lockdown a few days ago, 47-year-old Bharat Nahar, a Hubballi-based cloth merchant residing in Keshwapur, has been busy distributing masks to people who cannot afford to buy them. Against the backdrop of the alarming spike in Covid-19 cases across Karnataka, it is hard to overstate the role that masks play in checking the spread of the infection.
In addition to distributing masks, Nahar has been giving out food and water bottles, whole carrying with a first-aid kit to treat stray dogs and cattle, the welfare of which has taken a backseat in these chaotic times.
