Multiple cities across the country are experiencing new COVID-19 outbreaks, forcing local authorities to roll out measures to curb transmissions, such as confining residents at home and delaying students' return to school.
Chengdu, capital city of Southwest China’s Sichuan Province tightened its COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control starting Tuesday by rolling out measures including carrying out citywide nucleic acid testing, suspending operation of entertainment venues and putting off the autumn semester for local schools in a bid to curb the fast spreading of the sudden flare-up started on August 25 in a timely manner.
People visiting the Jianchuan Museum in Dayi county of Sichuan province on Thursday had a pleasant surprise. They met Zhu Jianqiang, the legendary Strong Pig that survived the May 12, 2008, Wenchuan earthquake. She died in June at age 14 which is old for a pig and was preserved by plastination.
