As India's ambitious cheetah reintroduction project continues to be mired in controversy, another cheetah has died in Kuno national park. This latest death brings the total to 9 since March 2023.
Two foreign experts, Vincent Van De Merwe and Dr. Andy Fraiser, whose names were mentioned in a letter sent to the Supreme Court expressing "concerns over Cheetah deaths in Kuno National Park," have requested a retraction, stating that they never consented to the letter.
Reportedly, the radio collars that the cheetahs wear are causing fatal infections given the humidity in India, unlike in drier African conditions. Weather patterns are changing worldwide
