South African government on Monday said it had reached a deal to transfer more than 100 cheetahs to India as part of efforts to reintroduce the extinct species
The South African government signed a Memorandum of Understanding for the translocation of 12 cheetahs on Wednesday, with the big cats slated to arrive by February-March.
12-14 cheetahs are intended to be brought from South Africa, Namibia, and other African Countries over a period of upcoming five years as per the Action Plan, Minister of State for Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ashwini Kumar Choubey said.
