Speaking on a radio show, commissioner bratton says its not just a new york problem. In many areas of the country, we are seeing a significant increase in crime after having experienced almost 20 years of steady decline. The nypds latest statistics show a 10 increase in murders through july 27th compared to the same period last year. Bratton says there are two main reasons. It was just after 6 a.m. when the family cat, Sage, began pawing at Kassidee s face, waking her up. She noticed something did not seem right. It smelled like burnt pizza. It was really hot in my room. I couldn t breathe and I went out to get my breath, Kassidee said.
