MAIL readers have given their opinion on plans to convert the former Mail office into apartments. The former home of The Mail newspaper could see a new lease of life if plans to convert it into 11 apartments and three business units get the go-ahead. The plans to turn the former Newspaper House building on Abbey Road, Barrow, into flats will be put before councillors at Barrow Council’s planning meeting on April 13. The empty building once housed this newspaper’s operation in the town and the application by Mr D Clark of ARRG Ltd is recommended for approval – but only if there is a provision for affordable homes.
