OAKLAND, Calif. Randal Grichuk homered, doubled and drove in five runs to lead the Toronto Blue Jays to a 10-4 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Thursday.
Toronto earned a split of the four-game series after dropping the first two games against the AL West leader.
Marcus Semien homered among his four hits, Danny Jansen and Teoscar Hernández each drove in two runs and Bo Bichette and Cavan Biggio had three hits apiece for the Blue Jays, who have won five of their past eight road games.

LAKELAND, Fla. Don’t expect Detroit Tigers prospect Casey Mize to be pumping 96 mph or 97 mph on a consistent basis in a “normal start.”
But Sunday wasn’t normal. He was coming out the bullpen, he was only pitching two innings and, yes, he’s fighting for a spot on the roster.
“That’s just the adrenaline coming out of the pen,” said Mize, whose fastball normally sits about 94 mph. “During the season, as a starter, you definitely won’t be seeing that.”

Ken Giles knows the upcoming season will be all about patience. The Albuquerque native knows there is no need to rush his recovery since the Seattle Mariners won’t even consider allowing him to see the majors this year.
“I would love to be out there this year. But you know what? It’s not going to do me any good, it’s not going to do the organization any good,” Giles said. “As long as I stay patient through my process, I’ve already come to the realization I’m not going to pitch this year and that’s OK.”
