STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. The 27th annual Crime Victims’ Vigil was held virtually Thursday night, showcasing the strength and resilience of survivors as a part of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.
The vigil, organized by Safe Horizon, the NYC Family Justice Center and the office of Richmond County District Attorney Michael E. McMahon, featured profound stories of survivors and honored the lives of those lost to crime on Staten Island.
“In America today, we often speak of criminal justice, juvenile justice and even community justice, yet we seldom hear about victim justice, which really must be at the very heart and soul if we are to have justice in our nation,” said McMahon at the onset of the vigil.
