Charleston Middle School receives outdoor garden grant
Charleston Express
Charleston Middle School’s science department was recently awarded a $500 grant by the Arkansas Farm Bureau for its outdoor garden.
The original design of the garden, which was established in 2008, will be modified to better serve the school s current objectives, ensuring that crops can be harvested while classes are still in session, and allowing the farm-to-table concept to be more effectively taught. Included in the new design is a permanent, higher quality, high tunnel greenhouse.
The garden provides an excellent hands-on activity for the students, encourages the development of gardens at their homes, and allows them to enjoy the rewards of their hard work.
