President Joe Biden said he intended to nominate Daniel Werfel to become the next commissioner of the Internal Revenue Service, tapping an official who served under both President Barack Obama and President George W. Bush to lead the agency as it embarks on an $80 billion overhaul.
WASHINGTON Today, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Janet L. Yellen designated Internal Revenue Service Deputy Commissioner Douglas O’Donnell as Acting IRS Commissioner. Deputy Commissioner O’Donnell will head the agency following the end of Commissioner Charles P. Rettig’s term which ends on November 12.
