Across the country last year, voters voted out incumbent Republican office holders from Donald Trump on down. By voting them out, we rejected the corrupt, self-interested ways in which they governed along with their do-nothing policies. Instead of learning lessons from these losses, GOP leaders nationwide have doubled down, determined to turn the tables and teach the voters a lesson by thwarting their will on a massive scale.
In state after state, now including Ohio, Republican-led legislatures are trying to teach voters a lesson by making it harder to vote next time. Here in Hamilton County, Republican leaders have a unique way of showing their disdain for the will of the voters: by handing lucrative jobs to their cronies whom the voters of this county rejected last November.
