A 23-year-old Colorado man has been sentenced to probation for sexually abusing a 15-year-old Iowa girl.
Charles Gearhart, of Loveland, Colorado, was arrested in October and charged with five counts of third-degree sexual abuse three in Dallas County and two in Polk County according to court records. He arranged to meet up and have sex with the victim five times between January 2020 and July 2020, according to a criminal complaint.
Gearhart s charges in Polk County were dismissed as part of a plea agreement with Dallas County prosecutors, in which he pleaded guilty March 5 to three third-degree sexual abuse charges, court records show. As part of that agreement, he was sentenced to five years probation. If he violates the terms of his probation he could face 30 years in prison.
