They are exceptional leaders in their communities and their areas of research and scholarship.

Twenty-seven new Ngā Ahurei a Te Apārangi Fellows and
Ngā Ahurei Honore a Te Apārangi Honorary Fellows have been
elected to the Academy of the Royal Society Te Apārangi for
their distinction in research and advancement of science,
technology or the humanities. They are exceptional leaders
in their communities and their areas of research and
scholarship.
Being made a Fellow is an honour that
recognises distinction in research, scholarship or the
advancement of knowledge at the highest international
standards. Fellows can use the post-nominal ‘FRSNZ’
after their name to indicate this honour.

Kuntzsch will be moving to Nelson for the role, and said in a statement that he was looking forward to leading Cawthron, New Zealand’s largest independent science organisation. “It is almost impossible for me to contain my excitement about embarking on this purposeful journey to help understand and realise Aotearoa New Zealand s opportunities in aquaculture and the freshwater environment,” he said. Cawthron chairwoman Meg Matthews said Kuntzsch was joining Cawthron at an exciting time, as it celebrates its 100th anniversary.
