The old Moberly Junior High building near downtown is getting a new life as senior housing.
The announced rehabilitation of what will be known as Tannehill Apartments took place Tuesday at Moberly City Hall.
A formal groundbreaking on the project will happen in the spring. Conversion of the school building into one- and two-bedroom apartments for older adults will take upward of one year, Northeast Community Action Corp. Public Relations Officer Brent Engel said. This means the facility will open sometime in 2022.
Construction and rehabilitation costs are estimated at $10.1 million. There will be 48 housing units available once completed. This is a project that has been in the making for a lot years, Engel said. It s good to see that it is finally being done.
Moberly receives clean audit
The council received the city s audit report Monday from Columbia-based Williams-Keepers LLC.
Moberly uses a modified cash basis for accounting, so the audit report included information on city fund financial statements and their notes as they have more detail than a government-wide audit report, Amanda Schultz, with Williams-Keeper said.
The audit was on the fiscal year that ended June 30. Revenue actually was up by $711,000, Schultz said. This was due to Ameren solar rebates received during that year. Expenditures also increased, though, by about $929,000. This was down to the city s purchase of the Heritage Hills Golf Course.
