chardon. looking at that video, your heart goes out for the students. they are trying to put on a brave face and go back to school. there are funerals ahead for the friends that they lost here. reporter: a very, very emotional day. kids walking back to school. people coming outside to applauds them. each one getting hugged by the principal before going back inside the school. classes will begin tomorrow. today was sort of an orientation, sort of a get to know your school again after the unimaginable has happened ther . just a few days prior. it s going to be a difficult day tomorrow for the teachers and the student who is are going back there. this is how one of students summed it up this morning. it s very sad. it s just an emotional roller coaster. you re happy because you have memories of them, but you re sad
aggravated murder. there s also one count of felony assault. we re standing by this hour to hear from the football coach who is being hailed as a hero for chasing the suspect out of the school cafeteria where the shoot it is took place. let s go to ted rowlands right now standing by with more on what is going on. dramatic developments under way even as we speak. reporter: wolf, the charges just came down within the last few minuted filed by david joyce. it s three aggravated all against t.j. lane, the 17-year-old who still in the eyes of the law is a minor. we do expect that at his next court appearance on march 6th, next tuesday, he will be sent to adult court, from then on out he will be considered an adult in the eyes of the law. right now says other things that have happened. today the students return to school for the first time along with their parents and counselors were on site there. we also are going to hear from that teacher hero, frank hall, the teacher that h
and you of course can stay with abc news as we follow this still unpredictable gop race for president. look for more live reporting and analysis on both america this morning and later today on good morning america as well. meantime, the suspect in the ohio school shooting could soon face three counts of murder. charges could be filed as soon as tomorrow against t.j. lane. the young man made his first court appearance yesterday. with more on that we re joined now by abc s t.j. winick from chardon. t.j. reporter: good morning, rob and meg. the alleged shooter t.j. lane appeared in juvenile court on tuesday. since the shooting monday morning some disturbing social media posts have surfaced which suggests this was a young man in need of some serious help. 17-year-old t.j. lane, who allegedly opened fire with a .22-caliber handgun in the chardon high school cafeteria monday morning, appeared in juvenile court. as was stated earlier in court today, he chose his victims at random.
school. good morning to you, steve. reporter: a rainy day here in chardon, mart to match the sadness here in this town. some of the teachers arrived at the school you see here behind me visibly shaken, one of them hesitating before she opened the door, as if to gather her strength to go back into the school and carry on after this terrible tragedy. of course the memories still fresh here in town as they cope with this tragedy. all the more so because those 911 tapes have been released now. here is another little clip from that. 911, where is your emergency. we just had a shooting at our school. we need to get out of here. okay, ma am, we ve got a school shooting. ma am, what school? chardon high school. chardon high school? yes, ma am. all right. reporter: teachers and staff are here today, students will return with their parents tomorrow, along with some grief counseling here at the school, then on friday classes finally resume, martha.
