MANAMA Bahrain and Kuwait have strongly condemned the offensive statements made by the Lebanese foreign minister in the caretaker government, Charbel Wehbe, during a television interview against Saudi Arabia, its people, and the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
Bahrain s foreign ministry in a statement on Tuesday stressed that these statements are inconsistent with basic diplomatic norms and contradict the fraternal relations that bind the people of the GCC states with the brotherly Lebanese people.

ABU DHABI, 18th May, 2021 (WAM) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has strongly decried the derogatory and racist statements made by caretaker Lebanese Foreign Minister, Charbel Wehbe, against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other GCC States.
The Lebanese ambassador to the UAE was summoned by the MoFAIC and handed over a note of protest denouncing the Lebanese minister s remarks, which, the ministry affirmed, fly in the face of
all diplomatic norms and are inconsistent with the historical relations between Lebanon and all GCC states.

The United Arab Emirates foreign ministry summoned the Lebanese ambassador to the country and handed him an official protest note denouncing comments by Lebanon s foreign minister it said were inconsistent with diplomatic norms , UAE state news agency (WAM) said on Tuesday. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has strongly decried the derogatory and racist statements made by caretaker Lebanese Foreign Minister, Charbel Wehbe, against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) states, WAM reported.
Wehbe appeared to blame Gulf nations for the rise of Islamic State in Iraq and neighbouring Syria in a television interview on Monday.

Saudi Arabia on Tuesday summoned Lebanon s ambassador to the kingdom to protest insulting remarks by his country s foreign minister, who appeared to blame Gulf states for the rise of the Islamic State group.
Saudi Arabia seems to have taken a step back from its former ally, angered by the influence of Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah, which is backed by Riyadh s rival Tehran.
