The Muses of Arch Beach
Ever felt the joy of writing something that transcends your normal stuff? It’s a sweet moment, isn’t it? Writers, caught by the beauty of their words, may credit one of the Greek muses. In Laguna, we have the muses of Arch Beach, which leads to a story from Laguna’s early days.
Canyon Acres was homesteaded by Harvey Hemenway who had two sisters, Sylvia and Elizabeth. Elizabeth married a Connecticut boy named Henry Goff whose three brothers, Frank, Hub and Leon (Lee) also came to Laguna.
Sylvia married a Spencer Brooks and they had four children before his death in Texas: Nate, Will, Oliver and Melissa (Lizzie). They came here too. Two of the Brooks married Clapps (Will to Annie Clapp, and Melissa to Will Clapp).
Police Hunt Suspect Who Shot Man, Dragged Body out of Truck and Left Him

Police in Houston, Texas are searching for the suspect who fatally shot a man in the head and left his body in the street.
Officers with the Houston Police Department discovered the victim in the 300 block of East Delz Drive, in north Houston, at around 10 p.m. on Wednesday night.
The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, the police department said on Twitter.

Chula Vista police: Man arrested with loaded gun, ammo, pills

CHULA VISTA, Calif. (KGTV) â Police responding to a reported car break-in in Chula Vista arrested a man who was found to be carrying a loaded gun and pills believed to be fentanyl.
On Jan. 30, at around 7:30 p.m., officers were called to the 300 block of Anita Street regarding a witnessâ report of a man breaking into a car with a coat hanger.
Responding officers arrived to find a man matching the suspect description near the car described by the witness.

At least two people were killed and five others were injured in the separate incidents.
The crime rate across the Houston area has been under scrutiny over the past year. Just three weeks into 2021, at least 10 teenagers in the Houston area have lost their lives because of gun violence. That s the highest number over that time period in the past five years.

Harris County Sheriff s Office deputies responded to a shooting at Barker Cypress and Clay Road before 8 p.m. Sunday in a McDonald s parking lot.
