The farmers will hold a rally in Chandigarh on Tuesday, seeking compensation for crop losses suffered during the recent floods. A farmer had died on Monday after clashes with the police in Sangrur.
A farmer leader from Haryana's Karnal, Jagdeep Singh Aulakh, said: “Compensation in lieu of damaged crops is a short term solution. The government must think of long term solutions now.
The farmers later launched a dharna outside the Longowal police station. “All convoys (of protesting farmers) marching towards Chandigarh will now be coming to Longowal.
