Representative image CHANDIGARH: Punjab is seeing a consistent increase in weekly cases for the seventh straight week in a row, adding over one lakh cases to the tally, the fastest so far. As the state combats the roughest phase since the outbreak of the pandemic, it is witnessing around 3,000 cases and 50 deaths on an average daily. Both Haryana and Punjab recorded the biggest single-day high of 5,858 and 4,333 new cases on Thursday. With this, Haryana has 30,518 active cases and Punjab 30,033. The seven-week streak started from February 25 to March 3 when as many as 4,491 fresh cases surfaced. In the subsequent week, the number of cases swelled to 7,730 while in the week of March 11-17, 11,009 cases were reported, 17,227 new cases surfaced in March 18-24, 19,458 during March 25-31, 20,286 in the first week of April and 22,485 in the subsequent seven days.
