Champaign County Board of DD always essential
EDITOR’S NOTE:
This is one in a series of outreach columns from the Champaign County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
Even through a pandemic, the Champaign County Board of Developmental Disabilities is working to ensure all people are receiving the services they need. The Champaign County Board of DD’s Early Intervention (EI) Department is no exception. Our EI Department partners with Ohio Early Intervention Service Coordination and our local Family and Children First Council to ensure that children birth to age 3, who may not be hitting developmental milestones, receive the intervention they need.

CHAMPAIGN â Annie Easterday held a sign with a simple message outside the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District in Champaign on Saturday morning.
It read: âWeâve been doing what you asked. Now we canât pay our bills.â
The businesswoman who co-owns Pear Tree Estate in rural Champaign struggled to express her feelings about a pandemic that is clearly beyond her control.
Their wedding venue business has had 74 cancellations since March, resulting in 10 full-time and 40 part-time employees out of work.
URBANA â A day after she tried twice to block the Champaign County Board from filling a vacant seat, county Executive Darlene Kloeppel said Friday that she was preparing a written veto of the boardâs vote to approve its newest member, Cameron Raab of Champaign.
Kloeppel said she told the board Thursday evening that she was vetoing its unanimous vote approving Raab to fill the District 6 seat vacated by Mike Ingram, who resigned after being elected recorder of deeds in November.
Kloeppelâs oral veto was ultimately ignored.
Stateâs Attorney Julia Rietz warned Kloeppel that her action could be viewed as contemptuous of a court order issued earlier in the day. County Clerk Aaron Ammons swore Raab in, and he was seated for the Thursday night board meeting.
