24 COVID patients die in Chamarajanagar - Star of Mysore

Patient relatives allege mismanagement; CM calls for emergency meeting tomorrow Chamarajanagar: Over 24 COVID-19 patients died in Chamarajanagar and according to the District Administration as many as 12 patients died due to lack of oxygen as the hospital ran short of supply of the critical gas and other patients died due to various co-morbidities. The deaths occurred at COVID-19 Health Centre in the District where the patients were being treated.  The District Administration has also said that only a proper death audit would reveal whether the patients died due to oxygen shortage or due to other reasons. Following the deaths, Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa has asked Chamarajanagar District Minister Suresh Kumar and Health and Medical Education Minister Dr. K. Sudhakar to rush to the District and take stock of the situation.

This was stated by Chamarajanagar Deputy Commissioner M.R. Ravi who said that as per experts not all who test positive for COVID-19 need to be hospitalised and only 10% may need admission. Of these, only 5 to 6% would need oxygen and hence the public should not be perturbed over the possible shortage of oxygenated beds. Calling upon the media to desist from creating fear, the DC said arrangements were also in place to handle the worst-case scenario during the current wave. He said there was a 6 kilolitre oxygen tank in Chamarajanagar. In addition, the authorities will procure additional oxygenated beds for Santhemarahalli hospital so as to meet the local requirement besides procuring oxygen concentrators.

COVID-19 vaccination: Mysuru tops in giving life-saving shots

Updated: Share Article AAA After registering an extraordinary achievement of 126% in vaccination against COVID-19 on Saturday, Mysuru has continued to top the State in vaccination coverage, ahead of Bengaluru. Though short of the target and also below Saturday’s record jabs, the district achieved 70% coverage on Sunday, which also happened to be the highest in the State. As against the target of vaccinating 25,050 persons, Mysuru gave the shot to 17,510 on Sunday. Mysuru has been steadily expanding its vaccination coverage and topping the State as part of its battle against the pandemic since doctors and experts believe that immunisation is the best way to minimise complications in case of an infection spread.

Entry of devotees restricted at M.M. Hills from Apr.10 to 13 April 5, 2021 Hanur: With the threat of second wave of COVID-19 pandemic looming large, the M.M. Hills Temple Development Authority has restricted the entry of devotees to the M.M. Hills Temple for the upcoming Ugadi festival Jatra, scheduled to take place from Apr. 10 to 13. As a precautionary measure to control the spread of COVID-19  pandemic, the Authority has barred devotees from visiting M.M. Hills for four days from Apr. 10 to 13. The Authority has also decided to conduct the Jatra in a simple and symbolic manner on account of COVID-19 crisis.
