The farmer unions contesting the Punjab Assembly polls will no longer be part of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM), the umbrella body that spearheaded the agitation against the now-repealed agri laws, said on Thursday.
The two farmer groups Balbir Singh Rajewal-led political outfit Sanyukt Samaj Morcha (SSM) and Gurnam Singh Chaduni s Samyukt Sangharsh Party (SSP) have entered into an alliance for the upcoming Punjab assembly polls.
Charuni's decision brings his future in the SKM under a cloud with Dr Darshan Pal having already said that farmers who want to join politics must leave SKM.
