Chinese government leaders are breaking ground on a controversial construction project in the South China Sea. They are building lighthouses on the Spratly Islands. World leaders are taking notice and voicing their concerns. Reporter staterun tv in china is reporting what will be the next major project on the disputed Spratly Islands. It says two large lighthouses will be constructed on the reef. A Foreign Ministry Spokes Person said the project is for peaceful purposes. Translator the lighthouses will provide vessels with efficient navigating and other assistant services and thus will greatly improve their safety.
