Representative image NEW DELHI: Nearly 400.70 lakh tons of foodgrain has been released till 14th July, 2021 under PMGKAY during the Covid pandemic under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY). The total allocation of foodgrain was nearly 600.814 lakh tons. In a written reply, Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, MoS of rural development and consumer affairs, food and public distribution said: The total stock of foodgrain in India till July 1 was 900.45 lakh tons which consist of 603.56 lakh of wheat and 296.89 lakh tons of rice Centre launched PMGKAY scheme for additional allocation of foodgrains from the Central Pool at Rs 5 kg per person per month free of cost.
