I am wondering if you can give a short history of what department of aging and Adult Services here is in San Francisco. Certainly. San francisco has a long history of providing services for older adults and adults with disabilities. We are a leader in that. The department has been around for a long time but came together with services in 2000. Our Biggest Program is in Home Supportive Services which provides home care for 22,000 people in San Francisco. Its not good enough to pass the buck to cibt so will the Prime Minister guarantee today that every one of those apprentices will be able to complete their training and will be paid . Hear, hear i can say to the honorable lady that i recognize that of course, this has been a difficult time for a number of people and concerned about their jobs and about Public Services and about their pensions. I want, first of all, if i may, mr. Speaker, to provide reassurance to all employees who are working on Public Services for carrilian that they should continue to turn up to work confident in the knowledge that theyll be work for the work that theyre providing, but of course, the government is not running carrilian. Florida, puerto rico and the u. S. Virgin islands have been devastated by hurricanes. I first want to express our heart felt sorrow for the millions of americans impacted by these devastating storms and say all members of this committee on both sides of the aisle stand with those affected by the hurricanes. I would also like to thank dr. Burgess, both members of the subcommittee who each recently visited puerto rico to assess the impact the hurricanes have had and continue to have on our fellow americans. This committee has been conducting oversight of the federal response to the recent hurricanes since shortly after harvey made landfall in texas. Unfortunately, i expect that our work here will continue for years to come. The committees jurisdiction involves not just Public Health issues but rebuilding the electrical grid, addressing environmental cleanup and restoring telecommunications to name only a few. The people of puerto rico and the u. S. Virgin islands continue to face a long
