Wasserman schultz stepped down as chairman yesterday amid the scandal over those hacked emails suggesting the dnc took various measures to favoring Hillary Clinton over Bernie Sanders during the democratic primary. Students were shouting during the vote. They voted and then shut down the meeting. They did aprove the tuition hikes. Look behind me no protests here today. Nothing like what we saw yesterday. They do have the barricades and several Police Officers here. They were not needed today. The protest is happening across the bay on the cal campus. Students staged a sit in and promised to stay there until their demands are met. The main demand is uc regents not raise tuition but the before has ignored that demand and took the vote moments ago. One region said before the vote he was planning to vote if the hike and he said he didnt want to but said he had no choice. There were a handful of students who spoke before the vote. I feel i am a liaison for a lot of students, future students who cannot access the opportunities i have been able to access. And its less than an hours drive from my Congressional District. We mourn all the people who lost their lives on friday, including 20 Elementary School children and six educators. Over the past few years, we have seen innocent lives lost to gun violence in a supermarket parking lot in arizona, a Movie Theater in colorado, an army base in texas, a College Campus in virginia and now an Elementary School in connecticut. The weapons have spawned these tragedies and long past time that we control them. The Second Amendment guarantees the right to bear arms but does not guarantee an absolute right to militarystyle, high caliber, semiautomatic, combatassault rifles with high capacity magazines to anybody who wants them. It just does not and must not let Interest Groups persuade us otherwise. We need restrictions and sensible gun control legislation. We need them here and we need them now.
