The west of the philadelphia area. We have some really heavy rain coming into berks county, the western portion of berks just west of reading. This is an area thats already had probably more than two inches of rain in some spots so there could be flooding in that area. Another batch just west of allentown right along i78. This is moderate to heavy. Its headed up toward the pocono mountains. As you can see, theres more back to the west. Some big storms in northeastern maryland and even bigger ones farther to the west. Those are things we will have to watch through the evening hours because the future cast weather computers showing hour by hour that there will be more heavy showers and storms coming in later on this evening from that western area that we just showed you coming in perhaps even in the middle of the night. We did get up to 90 degrees just barely in philadelphia today, extending the heat wave, but its down to 79 right now with that rain. We will talk more about when the rain
New this morning, one person rushed to the hospital after a fire in the mission district. Firefighters were called to a building on shotwell street last night. They found flames shooting out of the third floor. Fire spread to another building before crews got it under control. One person is being treated for smoke inhalation. Today the San Jose City council is expected to approve a plan to finally end the dispute between city leaders and its Public Safety workers. We have had a few minor things, on the road early not much slow traffic coming through. When you get to the bay bridge toll plaza, traffic is light. Went on interstate 80, 27 minutes from the carquinez bridge to the maccarthur maze. When you get to the bay bridge you will notice a big back up stretching through the maccarthur maze, backed up with no major issues driving through the area. Looking at interstate 880, traffic is moderately heavy. Looking at the san mateo bridge, everything getting more crowded but no major problems. We have some slow traffic, and we talked about the crash northbound at 880 at the Stevens Creek boulevard, but not causing a big traffic jam. The south bay commute in the main part of san jose and cupertino, sunnyvale, still looking good ahead of the crowd. Hurricane irma is still a category 5 storm with powerful wind, and stronger wind gusting, and so far at least 10 dead being blamed on the storm. Get rid it of. Remnants of Tropical Storm lydia have come up here and moved into daly city. 66 degrees with 95 humidity. The water temps are warm too. Both of those, the tropical moisture in place and a system coming in helping to contribute to the humidity. There is light rain, maybe in the higher elevations. In the Santa Cruz Mountains there has been some. In the East San Jose hills and up towards Mount Hamilton as well. A lot of cloud cover. It will be a day where possible thunderstorms are popping up associated with the low. Thunderstorm activity northern Sacramento Valley and North Western california. 70 degrees in san jose.
