New this morning, one person rushed to the hospital after a fire in the mission district. Firefighters were called to a building on shotwell street last night. Today the San Jose City council is expected to approve a plan to finally end the dispute between city leaders and its Public Safety workers. San jose is set to turn the page and close a painful chapter in its history with the city set to vote on the new deal at 1 30 this afternoon. As part of the negotiations, san jose still on track to save 1. 7 billion over the next 30 years by switching to a lower cost Healthcare Plan and eliminating pension bonuses. After the voters overwhelmingly passed measure b three years ago, san jose has seen a mass exodus of officers retiring or leaving for other departments. Sjpd has shrunk from 1400 down to 900 officers. Among some of the details of the new deal for cops and firefighters, it reinstates the previous definition of disability and it also creates an independent medical panel to determine eligibility for disability benefits. As for the officers only themselves, they will get an 8 raise and a 5 bonus. Officers who left can also claim that bonus if they return. And bilingual officers will get a raise. Mistakes have been made for many years on many issues and theres undoubtedly things that we all would have done differently. If we could have got Something Like this early on and saved this Police Department, um, we would have done it in a heartbeat. Reporter this means measure b now is out. This new deal is set in place. Its creator a bay area chp officer called it the craigslist of stolen property. Nelly was hopeful but seven months ticked by and then last week the phone call was a complete surprise. He said we have your painting. Reporter the man had a dubious story, she said, about an art collector friend passing it to him but when he saw the painting on stolen911, he called her and then brought it to her. It was a godsend. Reporter the new bus lane is expected to improve travel time along van ness by 32 . And to make up for the cutdown trees, the city will plant 400 new trees on either side of the new bus lane. We have had two accidents both of them shutting down some ramps at the 580 680 interchange. As a result, westbound 580 clocking in with over 1 hour delays leaving the Altamont Pass. In fact, 205 is backed up from 11th street all of this slow traffic staying with you all the way down to westbound 580. You can take dublin boulevard still as an alternate to some of those delays. Now in san jose, an accident in the clearing stages. North 101 just beyond mckee threecar crash off to the righthand shoulder.
