Did you know that at least 15 percent of your community could benefit from LTC at home, a suite of services your pharmacy offers to keep patients who would otherwise be in the nursing home in the comfort of their own homes?
Maintaining a thriving independent pharmacy requires strategic thinking and innovative approaches to increase revenue. There are lots of ways to boost those numbers. Some are obvious like "expand your clinical service offerings" or "leverage technology" to up your med sync game, for instance, or even launch a mobile app to make it easier for patients. But thinking outside the proverbial box has never been more critical (or easier).
LTC-at-home services are services for patients in their homes who might otherwise be in a nursing facility without this care. The LTC-at-home model represents a shifting population of patients preferring to receive the same care they would receive in a long-term care facility in their homes, which is a lower cost environment. NCPA’s LTC Division continues to advocate for LTC-at-home services, and helped form the Alliance for LTC Pharmacy At Home Coalition.
NCPA staff joined the leadership of ASCP, Centennial Pharmacy Services, ExactCare Pharmacy, PharMerica, and Senior Care Pharmacy Coalition in advocating for long-term care pharmacy services in the home in a meeting with Stacy Sanders, Counselor to the Secretary at HHS. Representing the NCPA LTC Division and the Alliance for LTC Pharmacy @ Home, NCPA discussed the value proposition of LTC pharmacy at-home, echoed by the other alliance members, and participated in a discussion of policy proposals related to Medicare Part D and Medicare Advantage.
