VICTORIA, B.C. – Fourteen British Columbians will receive the British Columbia Medal of Good Citizenship for their community service and dedication to helping others, including Rolla resident Donna Kane.
Kane is a renowned writer in the Canadian arts community. As director of the Peace Liard Regional Arts Council, she organized three 75th Aniversary Alaska Highway Arts projects in 2017.
The Alaska Highway songwriting contest engaged regional musicians and built connections in communities along the highway. ),whenLoaded(initFlexitive);
Kane also organized multiple community readings by author Lawrence Hill, writer of
Fort St. John City Hall. (Energetic City)
FORT ST. JOHN, B.C – Two more residents enter the Fort St. John council by-election race.
Jon Gosselin submitted his nomination papers Wednesday, while Sarah MacDougall handed in hers Thursday.
Both Jim Lequiere and Tom Whitton submitted their Candidate Nomination Packages during the nomination period’s opening day on Tuesday. ),whenLoaded(initFlexitive);
Potential candidates have until April 9th at 4 p.m. to submit their nominations.
The by-election will take place on May 15th at the Pomeroy Sport Centre. Advanced voting is expected to take place on May 5th and May 12th.
