The Ripper the title of a new Netflix documentary series on Peter Sutcliffe has been criticised by his victim s families THE son of Peter Sutcliffe’s first murder victim has criticised the title of a new Netflix documentary on the serial killer. Richard McCann has questioned the streaming service’s use of ‘The Ripper’ as the title for its new four-part documentary series on the Bradford serial killer. Mr McCann – whose mother, Wilma, was murdered by Sutcliffe in 1975 – said he also thinks the labelling of serial killers and other criminals encourages copycats and turned Sutcliffe into a brand. Sutcliffe, who murdered 13 women and was dubbed the Yorkshire Ripper, died last month aged 74.
