taming inflation. the very thing that is weighing on the u.s. economy. the worry, of course, is that the fed could tighten too much and plunge the u.s. economy into a recession. it s really a delicate walk for the federal reserve, but at this point, the market wants to see the fed try to get out ahead of this because many believe the fed has been behind the curve for so long. alison kosik, thanks so much. turning to our politics lead and the january 6th committee laying out damning evidence that former president trump was told over and over and over again that his claims of election fraud were not rooted in fact. he was told by members of his campaign, he was told by members of his legal team, he was told by even his own attorney general, bill barr. when i went into this and would, you know, tell him how crazy some of these allegations were, there was never an indication of interest in what the actual facts were, in my opinion then and my opinion now is that the electio
and i sat in the back, working out the swings with a calculator and a pad of paper, which i then passed him a piece of paper so that he could sound terribly informed about the swings in each constituency. i also spent a bit of time clock watching output, both the bbc and itv and others, for a private company that was just assessing whether or not they were meeting the election guidelines and giving all the parties a fair crack at the whip. which is why you ve always been so intrinsically fair at election time. it s hard wired into you! but i know that this is probably the first. well, i know for a fact this is the first ever uk general election where the party leaders have had to comment on the fact that a former us president has just been found guilty of a felony. yeah. cos it s never happened before. it is just sort of. when you say it like that, itjust. itjust takes your breath away. and, yes, they ve all had to comment. right, and we will discuss what they ve been saying,
Lovely to be with you. And you. Nice to see you. What do we have . This is a really, really good week. We have i am not your negro, which is an oscar nominated documentary about James Baldwin. We have raw, which is a real breathtaking debut feature. And a quiet passion, Terence Davies film about emily dickinson. And i am not your negro, billed as a documentary.
