Reported Stolen Vehicle Passed Through Santa Clarita During 5 Freeway Pursuit A reported stolen vehicle suspect led California Highway Patrol officers on an I-5 Freeway pursuit through Santa Clarita Thursday. Around 3:45 p.m. Thursday, California Highway Patrol officers received reports of a stolen vehicle on the 5Freeway near Highway 126 in Valencia, said Officer Stepan Brandt, with the CHP Traffic Management Center. “We are in pursuit of a stolen vehicle,” Brandt said. As of 4 p.m. the pursuit is still active on the 5 Freeway near Sunland Boulevard, according to CHP officials. Ed. Vehicle Pursuit Begins In Castaic, Driver Remains At Large A vehicle pursuit that began in Castaic Wednesday evening continued south out of Santa Clarita, with the driver still at large. Just after 5:15 p.m., units from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Newhall Area Office were in pursuit of a vehicle on the southbound 5 freeway. “The original want was for speeding,” said Officer Kravig with the CHP Traffic Management Office. “The pursuit began on the southbound 5 near Lake Hughes.” The pursued vehicle was said to be reaching speeds over 100 miles per hour, according to CHP officials. The driver drove south, out of the Santa Clarita Valley, and took the 210 freeway eastbound until it was out of view of law enforcement at about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Containment Set Up After 5 Freeway Pursuit Ends Near Gorman California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers are searching for two stolen vehicle suspects that fled on foot after a 5 Freeway pursuit ended near Gorman Friday afternoon.  Around 2:30 p.m., Bakersfield CHP officers initiated a pursuit on a silver Honda Civic on the southbound I-5 Freeway, said Officer Josh Greengard, a spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office.  After speeding down the 5 Freeway and briefly heading eastbound on State Route 138, the pursuit ended on The Old Ridge Route south of the 138, according to officials.  “We have K9 units and multiple officers in a containment looking for the suspect,” Greengard said.

Stolen Vehicle Suspect In Custody After High-Speed 5 Freeway Pursuit A stolen vehicle suspect is in custody following a 5 Freeway pursuit that passed through Castaic late Wednesday evening reaching speeds of 100 mph. Around 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, the California Highway Patrol, (CHP), dispatchers broadcasted a description of a stolen vehicle, said Officer Josh Greengard, spokesperson for the CHP Newhall Area Office. “Shortly after we located the stolen vehicle, a Dodge Ram, on the I-5 northbound at Hasley Canyon Road,” Greengard said. The pursuit went up the 5 Freeway through the Grapevine at speeds of 105 mph before entering State Route 138, Greengard said. The chase ended at 120th Street and SR-138, totaling 30 miles, according to Greengard.
