The Ethics Committee of the Lok Sabha will call Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra on October 31, the chairman of the panel, Vinod Sonkar, said on Thursday. The committee is headed by Sonkar, a BJP MP.
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has urged the Lok Sabha Speaker to establish an inquiry against Moitra and called for her suspension from the House pending the investigation.
Dubey and Dehadrai had claimed that Moitra agreed to field questions in Parliament on behalf of business tycoon Darshan Hiranandani, in exchange for cash and gifts.
Mahua Moitra has sent a legal notice to BJP MP Nishikant Dubey, Advocate Jai Anant Dehadrai and media organisations for allegedly defaming her with claims that she accepted bribes to ask questions in Parliament.
