Reporter its a new age for tracking earthquakes, using drones to assess damage after the quake youre actually seeing the Early Warning in action. Reporter and at the usgs using an Early Warning system to find out an aftershock is on the way. In fact, we caught the warning for one of those aftershocks as it happened, in this case, we had about six seconds of warning. The farther away you are, the more lead time you get. The closer you are, the shorter the time you have. Reporter theyre also looking at data coming in from above. Whats helps so far with the drones and helicopter reconnaissance is to figure out the areas where we do see surface defamation. Governor brown. Many bay area cities including san jose and San Francisco already have a ban in place. The city of milpitas is the holdout. Thats where Marianne Favro is right now with reaction to the proposed statewide ban. Reporter if the governor signs this bill, most people in california will likely need to invest in one of these, a reusable bag, especially people here in milpitas. The bill would prohibit singleuse plastic bags at Grocery Stores and large pharmacies in 2015 and at Convenience Stores in 2016. It also lets grocers charge ten cents for paper and reusable bags. I think everybody should carry a paper bag, no plastic bags. Its good for the environment. I think it would be bad for businesses and lead to more thefts. Reporter the bill also includes 2 million in loans to help manufacture places to produce reusable bags. There are some plastic bag bans on the books in some cities but not here in milpitas.
