Casey Jeffery‘s second solo exhibition with the gallery.
Homework is a series of paintings by Jeffery which offer detailed observations of flowers and patterned fabrics. These moments, abstracted from their original context create scenes that are equal parts illusory and familiar. The movement of fabrics draped on a washing line and a garden blowing in the wind could be assumed, yet remain unseen. Only the stillness of that fleeting moment is depicted, providing endless contemplation of the ephemeral qualities found in both fashion and flowers. Though each composition is derived from the personal and the familiar, Jeffery’s paintings offer a nuanced vista into objects commonly considered mundane or overlooked in the everyday.
