let s pay attention to something else these polls showed. hear that? that s the sound of carson s and bush s momentum. what is going on there, matt? what happened to carson? and once again, all the money, all the ads, all the promises, another poll shows bush static at best. money doesn t matter that much, the old yogi berra line that says if nobody wants to come to a ball game, there s nothing you can do to stop them. if nobody wants to vote for jeb bush, it doesn t matter how much money he spends. i think there s four people to watch at this point. i really do, donald trump, ted cruz, marco rubio and chris christie. i think ben carson is basically back on the stage. that s where the action is. ben carson i do not think, maybe i ll be proven wrong, since the paris attacks, i think that he s become much, much less relevant. i think those four are the ones to watch. matt lewis ate his wheaties this morning. he did. he correctly identified some of your strategies.
is there bickering between look mr. williams is a very close friend of dr. carsons. we re all aware of that. he wants exactly the same thing that we want, which is to get dr. carson elected as president. are there disagreements sometimes? sure. are there instances when we have found mr. williams is not helpful? sure. there are always going to be tensions at campaigns. you know, there are lots of us within the campaign who disagree with each other, too. but you know, we are focused on one goal and that is to get dr. carson elected because we believe he s the best candidate in this race. with understand and with you know some of the concerns raised over dr. carson s knowledge of foreign policy just quickly, how, how is carson a man who wants to be the leader of the most powerful country prepared when he pronounces hamas hummus. brooke i think once again that is a very petty point. dr. carson normally, in fact he rarely, ever, reads a speech.
they understand here that we re talking about the jihadists, the islamic terrorists. and it s very obvious to most of them. the reception is quite warm. maybe they can teach us a bit how to interpret language. i d like to bring in robert trainham and howard dean. good to see you. governor, i want to start with you first. what do you make of carson s change in tone, and do you think when he was speaking originally that he was speaking to the syrian people when he talked about the mad dogs? wasn t he speaking to the u.s., to his potential constituents? i think his tone today was pretty good. and he is clearly trying to walk back intemperate comments which seem to be flying fast and furious on the other side. okay. your thoughts on that? do you think he did a good job
sunlen serfaty, thanks so much. let s talk more about carson s jordan trip. ellis hennigan joins me. he s co-author of how the parties over? how the extreme right hijacked the gop and i became a democrat. and brian morgan stern joining me from new york. brian, you first, a top state lawmaker is suggesting that using the national guard to round up refugees who are settled in the u.s. and send them back. here s how carson responded earlier today on cnn. i think that may be a little bit extreme, to be honest with you. but rather than face situations like that, let s support the efforts that already exist that will take care of millions of people and why would we continue to increase the complexity of the situation without solving the problem by bringing people over here who are not adequately screened?
it s not plan for next commander and chief. it wins support with the people who he is going to get support from. the interesting thing about the cruz surge is it s not surprising. he has done all the groundwork as charles has said. he has done a lot of work in the south for the march primaries. he has done it quietly and effectively. he has absorbed carson s support. he becomes unstoppable if he can start chipping away for donald trump. interesting for rubio inside that polling, cruz is polling so much higher on foreign policy than marco rubio. that must be bad news for them. really the question comes down to iowa is ten weeks from yesterday. how much more time is left for chris christie, jeb bush, these other people. even the rubio-cruzp, rivalry big turns in the race if carson disappears will trump and then who takes that establishment spot and who fights that it person who rises from the bottom, running out of time is there
